whitehorse, part two.

The day after we arrived in Whitehorse, we got to take part in our first daytime activity of our choosing: dog sledding! After getting dropped off in the downtown area of the city by Wolfgang, we were driven up into the mountains, arriving at the Sky High Wilderness Ranch (also called the Sky High Valley Ranch) twenty minutes later. The ranch offers a number of winter activities to tourists: dog sledding (mushing), multi-day mushing tours and expeditions, aurora viewing, and much more.

Your guide will teach you the most important things about mushing and what to do, so fear not, my friends. Everyone gets to mush, which means that you get your own sled and your own set of dogs (you get four). Through the resort, we were signed up for a half day of mushing and we had so much fun! We were taken through the surrounding area and onto Fish Lake. It was so beautiful and serene when we mushed across the lake because we were the only ones on the lake and there was so much space.

Once our time at the ranch had come to an end, we were driven back downtown and searched for a place at which we could chow down on some food as a late lunch. We ventured around the downtown area before heading back to the resort. Dinner at the resort was delicious, as predicted, and we also indulged in some massages and sauna sessions.

Next up: snowshoeing! x
