When you have the opportunity to check out a gallery before opening hours, you say yes! And that's exactly what happened after the Vancouver Art Gallery announced that they would be holding their first ever #EmptyVanArtGallery event. I applied and was lucky enough to be selected to attend this past Friday morning.

On view at the VAG right now are a few fantastic exhibitions from local artists to world-renowned international artists. Picasso: The Artist and His Muses is an obvious popular one, but what I found to be very thought-provoking was the BHARTI KHER Matter exhibition. It is the India-based artist's first North American survey and Kher's practice is spread across a number of mediums.

If you have some time this summer, all the current exhibitions are on view through October and Barbara Kruger's now-famous atrium installation will be on view till September. Everything is definitely worth checking out.
